      GBY-type concentrated sulfuric acid submerged pump special steel is widely used in 80-100% sulfuric acid, the temperature can reach 60-80 °C. Steel in this concentration and temperature range of sulfuric acid, the surface can produce a protective layer of ferric sulfate. Cast iron is not suitable for use in more than 100% fuming sulfuric acid, probably due to the reaction of sulfur trioxide with the silicon contained in iron to make the cast iron brittle. Carbon steel is not suitable for 100-102% fuming sulfuric acid, and more than 102% acid is suitable, and the temperature is limited to about 60 °C. Dilute sulfuric acid has a great corrosion to steel. When the acid concentration is about 47%, the corrosion rate reaches a high value. When the acid concentration is greater than 65%, the corrosion rate of steel is significantly lowered. However, in the concentration range of 65 to 80%, it is better not to use steel to make it safer to use lead or other dilute acid resistant materials.
