Potassium nitrite is white to yellowish prisms or strips of crystallization, easy deliquescence. In the moist air can be slowly transformed into potassium nitrate. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, soluble in hot ethanol. As strong oxidizer, it will burn and explode when mixed with organics.
