Physical properties: clear liquid, with a specific gravity of about 1.3 to 20, which is neutral.
Chemical properties: It reacts with iron salt solution to produce blood red iron thiocyanide, and has no reaction with ferrous salt. With concentrated sulfuric acid to generate yellow sodium bisulfate. It reacts with cobalt salt to produce dark blue cobalt thiocyanide, reacts with silver salt to produce white silver thiocyanide, and reacts with copper salt to produce black copper thiocyanate precipitate.
