Depending on the standard and country of manufacture, MDF panels will fall under emission classifications E3, E2, E1 and E0. E3 is the emission class with the highest emissions and E0 is the lowest. E0 is also known as Ultra Low Formaldehyde Emission (ULFE).
Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure.
Typical MDF has a hard, flat, smooth surface that makes it ideal for veneering. MDF may be glued, doweled or laminated.
