Galvanized pipe is manufactured for ordinary use in steam, water, gas, or air lines. UL listed and FM approved, sizes 1” to 6” nominal, for use in fire sprinkler pipe applications. We carry A106 seamless pipe in Sch 40, Sch 80 & Sch 160 wall thickness. Applications include: refineries, power plants, and boilers. Seamless carbon steel grades B & C pipe can be used for high pressure and high temperature service. Pipe is suitable for bending, flanging, and similar forming operations and for welding. Other pipe we have available are - API5L GRADE B, A-335 pipe and P11 & P22 pipe for Power Plant applications.

Sheets of steel are galvanized by dipping them into a zinc bath to prevent rust as well as providing a harder surface. Galvanized steel is often used in applications that require bending to form, such as buckets or tubs, but it`s difficult to weld or work with in other ways. Galvanized steel pipe is that steel that has been covered with a layer of zinc metal. During galvanizing, steel is immersed in a molten zinc bath, ensuring a tough, uniform barrier coating. Galvanized pipe is covered with a zinc material to make the steel pipe more resistant to corrosion. 

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN BLACK STEEL PIPE & GALVANIZED STEEL PIPE?

Water and gas require the use of pipes to carry them into residential homes and commercial buildings. Gas supplies power to stoves, water heaters and other devices, while water is essential for other human needs. The two most common types of pipes used to carry water and gas are black steel pipe and galvanized steel pipe.

Galvanized Pipe

Galvanized pipe is covered with a zinc material to make the steel pipe more resistant to corrosion. The primary use of galvanized pipe is to carry water to homes and commercial buildings. The zinc also prevents the buildup of mineral deposits that can clog the water line. Galvanized pipe is commonly used as scaffolding frames because of its resistance to corrosion.

Black Steel Pipe

Black steel pipe is different from galvanized pipe because it is uncoated. The dark color comes from the iron-oxide formed on its surface during manufacturing. The primary purpose of black steel pipe is to carry propane or natural gas into residential homes and commercial buildings. The pipe is manufactured without a seam, making it a better pipe to carry gas. The black steel pipe is also used for fire sprinkler systems because it is more fire-resistant than galvanized pipe.

A106 Pipe

ASTM A106 pipe (also covered in ASME specifications as S/A 106) is the standard specification for seamless carbon steel pipe for high-temperature service. Most common uses are in refineries and plants when gasses or fluids are transported at high temperatures and pressures.  Bangdong is a world leader in the supply of A106 / SA 106 pipe and stocks a full range of grades B/C in a size rage of NPS 1/8″ to NPS 48″, with nominal (average) wall thickness as given in ANSI B36.10. A full range of A106 stock is available in Schedules 10 through 160, STD, XS, XXS. Unscheduled wall thicknesses available up to 4 inches.

ASTM Specification A53 covers seamless and welded, black and hot-dipped galvanized nominal (average) wall pipe for coiling, bending  and other special purposes and is suitable for welding. Bangdong Pipeline Products produce galvanized pipe.
