Gabion production process

Gabion assembly

The folded units shall be taken out from the bundle and placed on a hard flat surface. Gabion shall be opened, unfolded and pressed out to their original shape. Front, back and end panel shall be lifted to a vertical position to form an open box shape. All edges of the diaphragms and end panels shall be tied by lacing wire.

The ends of lacing wires shall be anchored by 3 tight turns around the selvedge wires.

How long does gabion box life?

The gabion mesh is available with different coatings. The coating selection is made depending upon the environmental conditions. For example, a dry wall situation is likely to require only galvanized.

whereas a maritime environment or a longer design life would use a PVC coated galvanized. It is recommended that any structure in permanent contact with water (through immersion, proximity or spray) use PVC coated gabions.PVC coating can achieve 70 years when not exposed to severe environment.
