Slurry pump shaft is an indispensable part in the operation of slurry pump. It is used to transmit the rotatory movement from the motor to the impeller,and to support the impeller to maintain its normal operation in the working position. In our slurry pumps the impeller is always mounted at the end of the shaft (overhang design).Drive to the shaft is normally via belts and pulleys or a flexible coupling (with or without a gearbox). As the impellers of slurry pumps are subject to higher loads than clean-water pumps, it is essential that the shaft is of robust design. According to the working characteristics of the pump shaft and the stress it bears, it is necessary to use carbon steel and alloy steel with good fatigue resistance when selecting materials, which have better comprehensive mechanical properties. If the speed of the pump is not high and the temperature and pressure of the medium are not high, the pump shaft can be made of carbon steel. If the speed of the pump is high and the temperature and pressure of the medium are high, the alloy steel with high strength should be selected for the pump shaft. If used to transport acid, alkali and other strong corrosive media, the pump shaft material is generally lCr18N19, lCr18Ni9Ti stainless steel.
